Yes. Agree. Ideally, critics help us make our own choices about subjective matters.
Catty comments are not useful, not interesting. It's childish.
Critics: Give us something we can use to form our own opinions. Don't try to impress us with your clever use of language. Undernourished?

No one uses the word "ostensibly" unless they're trying to compensate for a lack of something. Perhaps he needs a shoe lift, a hair piece or a bigger — sense of self.
