Cat Haters need not apply
Wednesday, May 13, 2009
We all use litmus tests of some kind or another. My mom has one of the funniest: There are two kinds of people in the world -- cat lovers and assholes.
Here's one I have found to be almost 100-percent true over the years: I enjoy the company of people who listen to National Public Radio for news. They tend to be curious, open-minded and global in their perspective.

Agree on the cats...but what about those of us who listen to NPR, and laugh derisively at half their reporters??
I used to listen to NPR, till it put me into a sleep-induce para-coma, and I almost drove off the road into a ditch. No more boring NPR for me now.
geekyHeather: Yeah, I agree, they take themselves SO SERIOUSLY!
Especially Sylvia in Italy. I do like Don in the White House, though: he's real straight-forward and chatty; you can tell he's a Michigan native who used to cover Detroit and the auto industry for NPR.
Scott: You MUST take your NPR every day as prescribed ... whether you want to or not. It's anti-stupid medicine. If you don't listen to NPR then you MUST read a newspaper or The Economist.
Yours in health,
Dr. Ad
Hey, hey, hey, now! What about dog lovers? I don't think we're all...what your (very cool) mom said! Take it back, Ad!
Those who love animals love life. Dog, cat or gerbil. Even other humans!
Relax, dear Kathy ... I think my mom's standard is a comment on people who hate cats, not those who love dogs. Obviously, you can love both.
I myself would have a dog if:
They didn't stink.
They peed and pooped in a box.
They didn't bark.
They had a more interesting, obstinate personality.
